About Zymtrace

Organizations spend billions on GPU infrastructure to power AI, yet roughly 60–65% of that investment is lost to underutilized hardware, idle cycles, and inefficient workloads. The problem isn’t the teams running these systems. It’s that existing tools treat GPUs as black boxes, exposing surface-level metrics without revealing where performance is actually being lost.

Zymtrace is a distributed AI infrastructure optimization platform that provides deep, continuous visibility into GPU-accelerated and general-purpose workloads across entire clusters. We trace execution from PyTorch and JAX code through CUDA kernel launches down to individual GPU instructions and stall reasons, then correlate everything back to the CPU code that triggered it.

We work with leading AI labs, Fortune 500 companies, and research firms to debug and optimize their most demanding workloads. Read the anam.ai case study.

Our founders pioneered, open-sourced, and contributed the eBPF continuous CPU profiler to OpenTelemetry, now used in production across Grafana, Datadog, IBM, Cisco, and others.

About the Role

Two things define this role.

The first is agentic UX. We’re building toward AI agents that autonomously detect bottlenecks, diagnose root causes, and propose fixes. How an agent communicates what it found, how a user steers it, how confidence is expressed, how a fix gets reviewed before it ships: these are open design problems. You’ll own the answers.

The second is clarity under pressure. Our users operate in high-stakes environments where a wrong decision wastes GPU budget or breaks a training run. They’re technical and fast-moving. The product needs to give them exactly what they need to act, with no noise. You’ll own how that feels across every surface.

You will lead end-to-end product design at Zymtrace: how AI/ML Engineers and MLOps teams experience the product from the moment they onboard to the moment they act on an optimization.

This is not a role for someone who hands off mockups and waits. You’ll iterate fast, write React alongside your designs, stay close to users, and drive your own research agenda. You think about design as a complete system: the interaction model, the information architecture, the words, and the mental model the user builds over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end user experience: agentic interaction flows, infrastructure dashboards, optimization recommendation surfaces, and onboarding
  • Prototype and validate quickly, in the browser, not just in static mockups
  • Contribute React/TypeScript code for UI components and interaction patterns, working closely with frontend engineers
  • Drive user and competitive research independently. Talk directly to AI/ML Engineers and MLOps teams at customer companies, map the competitive landscape, and surface insights without waiting to be pointed in a direction
  • Work directly with the CEO and engineering team to translate product goals into concrete interface decisions
  • Define and maintain design patterns the team can build against consistently

What We’re Looking For

  • A portfolio that includes developer tooling, data-dense interfaces, or technically complex products
  • Shipped experience designing for engineers, ML practitioners, or similarly technical users. You have put a real product in front of deeply technical people and learned what holds up
  • A clear point of view on agentic and AI-assisted workflows: what makes them trustworthy, what makes them frustrating
  • Self-directed: you spot a gap in your understanding, go fill it, and come back with a point of view
  • Comfort working at high velocity in a small team

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • AI infrastructure, observability, or developer tooling products
  • Designing for CLI or IDE-adjacent workflows
  • Agentic product design: copilots, AI-driven workflows, or human-in-the-loop systems

Why Join Zymtrace?

  • The user is technical and demanding. AI/ML Engineers and MLOps teams have high standards and low patience for noise. Designing for them well is hard and deeply satisfying.
  • Your work ships fast. No design review committees. You’ll see your work in production quickly, get real feedback from users, and iterate from there.
  • Direct impact on the roadmap. As one of the earliest product-focused hires, your decisions about what the product feels like will shape how we grow.
  • World-class teammates. You’ll work alongside engineers who built the eBPF profiler now used across the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, created disassemblers used in Firefox and WebKit, and previously worked on compilers and kernels at companies like Google.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity
  • 401(k) plan (or your country’s equivalent)
  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • Remote-first company
